NEW TO US?
We know how intimidating and awkward it can be to attend a new church. Whether you've never or rarely attended a church in the past or your simply visiting a new church for the first-time, the uncertainty-level can be very high. You may be unsure of what to wear, what to do or how to act. Please don't worry about any of these things. Instead, take a deep breath and hear us when we say that we just want you to be you. We have no pre-conceived expectations.
Children are so important to EWC. We place a huge emphasis on creating fun, exciting and nurturing venues where our children can grow in their faith. To ensure that our kids are taught in an age-appropriate manner, we host a Sunday Kidz Worship program that is uniquely designed just for them. We have long heard that children are the
future of the church. We, on the other hand, genuinely believe that children are a major part of the church now.
What is a Wesleyan Church? You're not alone if you've ever asked that question. Maybe you even wondered about that "church over on Crystal Lake Rd." Historically, Wesleyan churches are offshoots of the Methodist Church. We are part of a much larger network of Wesleyan Churches that are active throughout our country and the world-at-large. While our roots are thoroughly Protestant we deeply respect all those of varying Christian denominations and traditions.
Here at Ellington Wesleyan Church, we are devoted to centering our lives around Jesus. From our perspective, Jesus never intended to start a new religion. Nor did Jesus ever intend to start groups of people that meet in buildings once-a-week for the purpose of apathetically doing the religious routine with no heart involvement. We believe Jesus is way bigger and way better than that. Jesus ignited and launched a revolution; a revolution of hope, joy, love, compassion, forgiveness, mercy and justice.
Jesus' life, sacrificial death, resurrection and ongoing presence continue to reveal that God is up to something massive and beautiful in our world. We want to be a part of this. We want to experience it for ourselves. Even more, we want to lovingly invite others to participate and experience it as well. We believe that Jesus is who He said is. We believe Jesus fully revealed God; a God with the power to change our lives from the inside-out. This was never about religion. This was always about God
desiring to save, restore and heal our world; one person at a time.
We'd love for you to join us at EWC!
Because everyone is welcome at God's table! Everyone!
